I'm thinking since I have nothing better to do (well, studying doesn't really count) and I JUST got season 3 on DVD, I'll just go episode by episode and post clips that I find interesting. I hope Raffy will forgive me for spamming the board, but honestly, can you ever get enough Carter? Also, it's better than rewatching the finale 500 more times and looking for signs. 3x01: Dr. Carter, I presumeCarter starts his internship, and things aren't looking too promising. The "welcome to hell" monologue, although not technically a Carter speech, is included because it still makes me laugh every time. "you will wake up every morning praying for [Benton's] approval. You won't get it." that's where he was wrong! XDNow, Carter's starting to feel a little too confident and the nurses decide to teach him a lesson. By the way! in the finale when they're talking about how you should never call Haleh "nurse", it's probably a throwback to this episode. Carter pisses her off by calling her nurse. And as if working night alone isn't bad enough, Carter's covering both the OR and the ER. So the stress begins, until Gant shows up to the rescue. *raises eyebrow* WHAT? It wasn't just an excuse to post a video of topless Noah, honest. Ok, maybe that, too, but I can't watch that scene without thinking of the blooper where he can't get his shirt off... ;D Anyway. Carter and Gant are finishing up with a patient. Carter's exhausted. They're both unhappy about the upcoming breakfast with Benton (humiliation session). I can't put my finger on why, but I really, really love this scene. Also, it pays to rewatch watch season 3 because then you notice that Gant is always saving Carter's a$$. He's literally always covering for him and helping him out in almost every episode, which makes Carter's guilt over his death so much more powerful. Last scene for this episode- Carter's nightmare shift is almost done. He has a nice moment with Mark and some firecrackers. Again, a classic scene. It's so odd to watch it again for the first time since I was 13 or 14... *wipes brow* Stay tuned for scenes from 3x02. Unless Raffy tells me to stop posting and get a life. Which I need to do, anyway.

Thank you!!! ;D. I got my hands back on S1 and S2 DVDs, but not any S3 episodes. I didn't realize all those scenes where in "Dr Carter I presume". I love the part about Dr. Benton's approval ;D! How great to see where it went years later... Me neither! how cute. Shows that Noah is probably not used to wear suspenders... Talking about bloopers, I checked s5 "Hazed and Confused", and Carter calling Dr Greene "Tony" is definitely there. Funny they didn't realize... For some reason, I really love the firecrackers... Really a nice gesture from Greene. Carter looks like a kid .

LOL Great, now I won't be able to sleep until I've seen it. Season 3 is full of things that I only vaguely remember. There's one episode where Carter has to tell a girl coming out of surgery that her father had died, and the girl just sort of picks up on it on her own. Now I swear, if you watch it back to back with All in The Family, it will give you the chills. Same scene. The girl says almost the same thing as Carter's "she's dead, isn't she", and the exact same reaction- the head turning... it can't be a coincidence. And the fact that it's there and I missed it so many times makes me happy because who knows what other things I missed! And just to prove that I'm not imagining: I really need to get out more. *sigh* BUT since I'm on the subject of that episode, another quick clip. Does anyone remember Carter telling Keaton about his brother Bobby and how Carter just *knew* that he'd died? (... yes, just like he knew Lucy had died in AITF.) Because it's a nice scene.

You so totally should. it's brilliant! ;D
Yay. I'm putting together some more clips, but youtube is being painfully slow in uploading them. And holy cow, I'm discovering scenes that I totally forgot! But I'll get to that later. Right now, I'll post what I've got so far (or, as is more likely, continue watching ER until I pass out on my keyboard)
The Betty/Apartment saga
3x02: Let The Games Begin
Carter gets a rude awakening from his neighbour, Betty. His line in the end makes me crack up... "Betty I can't help you. I'm late and I'm going to die soon."
... who later follows him to the hospital-
And he wasn't kidding about putting out the cigarette.
3x03: Don't Ask, Don't Tell
Another morning visit by Betty. This time she brings soup. And is still smoking.
And of course we all know what happens...
3x04: Last Call
Gant suggests Carter move in with him (again, see what I'm talking about? guy's got his back...). Carter, meanwhile, discovers he had forgotten Benton's slides for their upcoming lecture in the apartment and they are now burned down.
The missing slides and the lecture going horribly wrong give us some funny scenes, but I don't think my computer can tolerate any more uploading tonight. Also, I'm pretty sure that a clip of that is circling youtube already. ***
Other cool stuff from 3x02-
Carter treats an old man who's dumped in the ER by his obnoxious, indifferent nurse. The man isn't lucid and keeps calling for Thomas. This scene is just too precious:
And when the nurse returns to the ER for food poisoning, well, this might just be the funniest thing I've seen all day. Carter and Carol get their revenge:

I loved these posts! "Dr. Carter, I presume" is one of my all time favorite episodes. Poor baby he felt smug at 5:45 AM and got totally exhausted at 7:55 PM THE NEXT DAY. I guess he was too excited to get any sleep before his first day. Maybe he got up at about 3:00 AM, went to County at 4:00 AM. :-) So how many sleep did he get during the two days? And how many work did he do, how many lessons had he been taught. It WAS hell. The firecrackers was soooo beautiful... Thanks to Dr. Greene for doing this to him.
Can't agree more. He IS a kid:'( My heart hurts for his beauty every single time I rewatch this scene.

Ooops! Sorry! Mmmm... or the same writers easily come with the same ideas without remembering they already put them . But it's a really nice touch to see the two scenes in comparison. I totally remember that! I like how there was just really tiny hints here and there (maybe not even one per season...) that Carter was so close to Bobby. I love in season 8 how he stares at a painting on the wall with the two of them together. I love his face when his mom tells him "I never took much time thinking about how your brother's death affected you...". I love how his father brought back Bobby when Joshua died. It's really this constant in Carter's life... that the writers put in his character in a nice way. Thanks for all the clips! ;D

About Bobby, I think he affected Carter so much that it became a part of Carter's personality and the original purpose of being a doctor. Carter once talked to Chen that his brother used to be very sick, in and out the hospital, when he saw the doctors treating his brother he wanted to do the different way. Wow...imagine a little child having this thought in his mind...

Oh, yeah! I remember being very much amused that they used an actual photo of Noah, and rolling my eyes at the bad photoshopping job... But yeah, if you look past that, I think it's neat that the almost never-mentioned Bobby was such a big influence on Carter's character. It's nice and subtle, the way that all the "small tragedies" that happened to him sort of come together to shape him. Fascinating study in psychology, although fictional. And because I'm a very, very insistant geek, I managed to get my hands on "Hazed and Confused". And after listening VERY carefully, it actually sounds like he says "Tell her to name a time..." again, it can be interpreted either way. Evidence: Right, back to organic chemistry.

Oh yeah, that scene. Yeah, I resisted the urge to make that video. Seemed inappropriate in between discussions of dead brothers... And plus, I'm trying to pretend to be a mature, reasonable fan who appreciates more about Noah than his butt... ;D And yet I keep feeling like I'm 14 again and thinking "OMG he's just soooooooo cute". *sigh* Watching the season 3 outtakes is a real treat! The scene where Benton catches Gant injecting Carter with compazine is so cute, but Noah jumping Eriq in the blooper reel is so much cuter. And dammit, I use the word cute too much when talking about Carter, but really, what other word is there?

Oh. and on the topic of season 3- Am I imagining it, or did I read somewhere that Glenne Headly (who plays Abby Keaton) was pregnant during the shooting of ER? That would make sense given the way they shipped her off to Pakistan... plus the fact that we never see a full body shot of her- I just noticed now they keep shooting her from the shoulders up, or hidden behind a cart, or all kinds of maneuvers that usually work for soap operas. Is that true or am I imagining things? I tend to make up elaborate conspirational theories.

Yes she was pregnant, they actually had thought about writing that into the storyline but decided not to.

And the word CUTE itself isn't cute enough to show his cutey...I guess we can only repeat the word to get there.
