Thanks for all those reminder clips. I haven't joined in , because there are so many wondeful scenes, I can't decide. Basically, anything in the first 8 seasons. Exodus, certainly, and all the scenes with Anna, my favourite Noah female friend, Oh and all the stuff with Benton and with Gamma Too many to chose from . Wonderful memories

Oh yeah.. That scene with Chase is wonderful. There's also the scene in the first ep of season 7 where Benton leaves the rehab center, letting Carter checking in alone, and Noah has these dark totally scared eyes following Benton... It's just amazing. That reminded me of a scene by Al Pacino in the Godfather, I don't remember which number... where his character is in a restaurant and about to shoot the people he is having lunch with, and his eyes are pure terror and anger and I always wondered how an actor could put so much in his eyes, and that stayed for me a reference of 'great acting' in my book. And boom, comes this scene with Noah in season 7 and I thought "Wow!!! that's better than Al Pacino!!!" And all the scenes posted here are wonderful. What a guy!... ;D

Just because I've got nothing better to do, here's the scene that Claired80 is talking about.
Definitely disturbing acting from Noah. And while we're admiring this scene, I absolutely loved Benton for the way he supported Carter through the addiction storyline. I think that was the biggest indication of how much he cares for Carter that we got to see until this new episode. Well, that and the scenes in All in the Family. Anyway, yeah... perfect scene.

Another one I really, really, really like. This one is all the way back from season 2! it's Carter's graduation day, and he's really excited about his graduation party. And then he visits a patient of his- a little girl with liver failure- and being Carter, he eventually spends the evening playing cards with her. He misses his graduation, and this is the scene where he talks to Benton about it... if I had to pick one scene that made me fall in love with these two, it's probably this one.
ETA: watching the season 2 dvd now, and man, the show used to be so good.

Like Janet I keep coming back here to post my favourite scene but I can't decide either. I have watched ER and Noah since the first episode. I have all the dvds up to season 11. I agree with everybody so far. Benton Deb and Gamma scenes are all wonderful. Abby and he were great as friends but I hated her once they got together. If I have to choose one it probably be from Midnight when his worst fear is confirmed ,just heartbreaking.

I just realized how much I loved that scene with rewatching it now. I actually broke a little tear while I'm at work , how ridiculous is that? It didn't hit me when you posted it, but now, hearing Benton saying "Take care of yourself Carter" really made me teary. That's one advice Carter didn't take from Benton, I think... If there could be a tiny reminder of that scene in the finale, I'll be a mess...

Well, after some thought I have to say I’m more a fan of the comedy moments than the drama moments. The one exception is May Day. I love every bit of every scene that Noah is in and how he interacts with the rest of the cast. From Mark’s attempt at counselling to Kerry shouting at him, from Carter turning on Deb to Benton holding him at the end. :sigh: So . . . comedy. I like the little set pieces. Maggie teaching him to shoot. Being in prison with Shrike. Taking out Benton’s appendix. Ordering loads of unnecessary tests on a patient. Benton’s appraisal. Trying to impress Harper. His relationship with Abby Keaton . . . I coud go on . . .

It's funny, but I still have a hard time watching May Day. There's something about it that makes me uncomfortable. I'm too much in love with Carter I guess . I didn't like how the drug addiction was brought I think. It was too brutal, and I didn't see enough understanding from other characters. I liked how Carter pointed out that they were judging him, it's really how I felt too... I wasn't spoiled at all at the time, and I didn't see it coming at all. I saw Carter wasn't okay at all, and I expected more that he'd break down, or that he would have health complications. I didn't like to see him "guilty" of something while I was expecting to see him being helped for good reasons. His recovery before May Day felt too fast (and we knew why in the end... ) from the point where he got equipment to work out at home. I thought the writers had given up on writing consequences of the stabbing from that point on, and I was disappointed. Not that I like Carter in pain, but I wanted to see more of his feelings regarding the stabbing, more consequences, and that the 'only' consequence that we were given was a drug addiction didn't make me happy at first. And from the beginning of season 7 on, I resented Mark Greene for how he was with Carter. He had told him in May Day that they would be here to help him when he comes back from rehab, but I found him distant and not really helping. There's a scene in Sand and Water I think, where him and Kerry discuss Carter's coming back to work and he wants Carter to stay home... I found Kerry a lot more helping, caring and understanding. Oh, that was a good one... ;D

I felt that the ER did begin to feel like a family again (a 'tough love' one) after the havoc of season 5 (Mark split with Doug, Doug split with Carol, Lucy appeared ). It felt like Kerry meant it when she said "how did we not know". It felt like people cared . . . then, of course, it all went back to misery and loneliness in the following season. I suppose I am talking more about Noah's performance rather than any true character development. I thought he was spot on. Of course, I love the 'punch' scene between Carter and Benton. But I also love the way Carter turns on Deb . . . the body language as Noah move towards her, almost threatening, and she backs away uncomfortably . . . good scene. Yep and so frustrating wasn't it, that things like this were dropped. ;D Again . . . the body language . . . still makes me smile.

That's very true. I didn't really notice that... It's true that season 5 had something not right. If I remember it well, there was also hardly any interaction between Benton and Carter . Season 6 was starting to fix the group and make it back together, and then came... Abby, and her mom, and her story line taking half the screen time and yeah, it felt like the characters became lonely again... He was! and in the scene in the lounge where Mark asks him if he is not overmedicating, his reaction, all the body language, as you say, that shows Carter is lying... He really should have gotten an Emmy that year. Too bad ER was already old...

Yep, all the old ties had gone and we had Abby and her Mom, Luka and the Bishop . . . reallly depressing storylines . . . IMHO of course, So true about the Emmy. And the lying thing. Noah is so good with 'tells', little quirks that say something is not quite right.

Oh yeah . I feel like I could talk about that all night. And talking about season 6, there are two little quirks that stay on my mind, really as great acting moments from Noah. One in "Be Patient", when Lucy's mother discusses with him. She asks him if she can ask him something, and I guess he doesn't see it coming, but then she asks him "what did it feel like?" and it's maybe not even a split second, but Carter has this face that says so much in that split second. In my eyes it said something like: "you're not asking that, are you?", "don't, please, don't...". It's a mix of surprise and terror, just in a quirk really. Noah is amazing at that . And the second is a bit on the same theme, in "Under control", when Kerry asks him if he talked to someone about what happened, and he has this very quick frown that again seems to say "don't go there...". Noah was able to do something like that again in "What we do" by the way. When Benton asks him if he has kids, he really just swallows quickly, blinks, and you know what Carter can think, just from little and very quick details on his face... Amazing .

I totally agree with the examples you give.
Perhaps we could do an episode by episode account . . .
Just kidding. ;D Except I will say it was evident from Day One, in his doing the IV on 'Frank/not Frank' "Oh sure, I've done hundreds of these". ;D
