Two more awesome Carter scenes from season 3: From "Post Mortem": What a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful piece of acting. I've been in this situation, kind of, and my heart aches for Carter in this scene. This one is probably one of my favorite Carter scenes, definitely one of my favorites from this season. Another little gem- when Carter's trying to convince Anspaugh to let him switch to emergency medicine. I love his little speech! Can you imagine the guts it takes to make that kind of decision? You guys, watching ER isn't doing much for my depression.

Oh yeah! I started this thread with this scene in mind... but didn't find any clip online for it. Thanks for putting it!!!
When I think of Noah as a great actor, or of any great performances in general not only by him, this is really one of the first scenes coming to my mind...

Aaaaand so I realize that 3:10 a.m isn't a good time to be awake and posting anything, but I can't seem to be able to fall asleep. And I was watching "Be Patient" from season six earlier, and what can I say... can't resist the urge to post clips. I have a special love for that episode, I think it's the one that actually got me hooked on ER. Before, it was just a show that I watched occasionally. But the whole stabbing storyline--- I just had to see where they were going with this, you know? And I've always been a sucker for angst. Warning: angsty post-stabbing episode videos ahead. Deb and Carter... And then there are the difficult to watch yet brilliant scenes with Carter and Lucy's mother. This is still in my list of top Noah performances, just because he's doing so many things right in this scene. The pain that Noah can express with a simple look (and, as I believe has been pointed out at some point on this board, with one of his trademark split-second looks....)! Very subtle and very, very, very disturbing. And this scene... well, it's Carter and Benton, so yeah, of course I love it. "We all know what happens after the jazz club"... ;D I also love that whenever these two have an actual conversation, they're always talking about their women. I'm getting too sleepy to make any more clips tonight, and it's not technically a Noah scene anyway, but I love how at the end of the episode Benton and Cleo are talking about Carter (she didn't know he was a surgical intern and Benton's telling her that yes, he was good, just didn't have the right character for a surgeon) and then when she decides that the jazz club is too loud and she wants to go somewhere more quiet, Benton's all... "you're gonna disappoint Carter"... ;D

oh, you really picked scenes so right, Anna. Thank you for the post.
"be patient" shocked me the first time I watched it. Every Carter's scene in this episode will break your heart. Especially the scene when he talked to Lucy's mother. And she asked how does it feel when he was stabbed. You can see he is scared by this question and wanna run away. You can also see the deeply pain in his eyes. (Noah did a perfect job on these scenes) And it was so Carter when he said it didn't hurt to Lucy's mother and told Benton the truth. Just heartbreaking.......
I have to point out something here...I had a very similar situation with Anna!... I liked Carter a lot before "All in the family". But I didn't realize how much I cared about him until the stabbing storyline. I cried the entire "be patient" (even the non-Carter scenes because I was still thinking about him) then became a Carter fan...During those sad episodes, all the good memories came back you know. How innocent he was. How he cared about his patients. How he saw the world. And it was totally devastated:'(
Can't thank Benton enough for getting Carter through this. Even when he was dating he was still talking about Carter;D

Especially the scene when he talked to Lucy's mother. And she asked how does it feel when he was stabbed. You can see he is scared by this question and wanna run away. I totally agree... We talked about it not long ago, how Noah is amazing at very fast little facial expressions that are telling so much, and how he looks when Lucy's mom asks him how it felt to get stabbed is really a great example of that! Same here... In France we were always getting two episodes in a row on Sunday night, and we got Be still my heart and All in the family together, and I just couldn't sleep the night after . I had something important at school the next morning and kept on thinking "You're nuts! It's a tv show, stop thinking about it and sleep... " but I really couldn't... All the stabbing and addiction story line would feel so 'flat' without Benton I imagine... This story was great for a big part because there had been years of development of their relationship. Thank you thank you thank you Anna for the clips ;D!!!

Those who could sleep well or even had a nice dream after "all in the family" are unbelievable. China doesn't play ER on TV I watched every episode by DVD or download. I remember "All in the family" was just the last episode on the DVD disk. When it ended, I was sitting in the dark room totally stunned, couldn't do anything or put myself together. After about 20 minutes, I finally was able to play the next disk. "All in the family" was not a TV level one. I've never been shocked that much by any other tv shows or movies before. And I believe everyone watched that episode has his/her own unforgettable experience. You must remember Benton's 1st scene in "All in the family" that he ran downstairs to the trauma room. O...M...G...(nothing else to say ) I'd like to list A LOT OF scenes like this but since it's a Carter centered post and everyone here knows those scenes so

Oh, that entire episode is unbelievable. it still makes me shudder to think about it, and I've already watched it so many times by now that I remember it by heart (I'm actually not exaggerating. it's kind of pathetic... . You'd think it would lose some of the effect it had initially, but it doesn't. it's a very, very, very powerful episode. The little things- like Benton freaking out because he thinks the blood isn't type specific, like Abby finding the knife- and the big things, like Lucy's scenes and Carter's pain. I remember watching that episode knowing very little about who Carter and Lucy were (because at the time, our TV was airing season 5 and six together, at different hours, which was really confusing, and I'd only seen a few episodes before AITF) and for at least a week after the episode I really couldn't think of anything else but "oh my god!". Awww, now look what you've done! I have to do my physics assignment and you guys are making me want to rewatch season 6...

Other shows or the entire 12~14 season of ER might lose its power even the second time you watch it but that episode wouldn't. When I watched (the last few minutes of)"be still my heart" and "all in the family" maybe the 10th time, I thought I would be ok cause I already know every detail. Nothing is going to shock me again. But, magically it WILL shock you every single time you rewatch it... Oops Self control, Anna.

Continuing what claired80 posted on the "Cart-ER remembered" thread. Since I've resigned myself to the fact I probably won't be able to sleep tonight (bunch of kids having a very loud party under our windows. at half past midnight. joy. But my internet connection is being impossible, so hopefully the videos will upload by the time the merry gang of drunken teenagers outside pass out or go home. ) I thought I'd post clips from the season 1 episode with Carter's suicidal cross-dresser. I'm talking about the episode "ER Confidential". Carter finds out he's not invited to Benton's thanksgiving party after all. Benton suggests he spends the holiday with his family, but Carter's family is in Switzerland visiting his sister (yes, the one that later disappeared never to be heard from again). Anyway, we see Carter's patient--- and there's more to her than meets the eye. (I love the "happy easter" banner that Bob's putting up in the background. She's got the decorations all wrong in this episode, half of them are for halloween! it's stuff like this that makes ER so awesome.) Carter is finding it really difficult to treat his patient. Clearly too disgusted to listen, he successfully ignores all the signs of a serious depression, pushing the patient, unknowingly, to take drastic measures. ... but by the time Carter tries to fix things, it's too late. And because I'm incapable of making a post without at least one awesome Carter/Benton scene- here's one of my favorites from season 1. Carter's beating himself up. Benton's doing the right thing. Eriq and Noah are the best combination since pb & j.

...but Carter's family is in Switzerland visiting his sister (yes, the one that later disappeared never to be heard from again). Things like that really make me shake my head. We didn't need to see her, but to 'vaporize' her like they did really makes me wonder what the writers have in mind . oh yeah! ;D And they really don't emphasize on these little things. You have to pay attention to notice... that feels really rewarding! There's absolutely nothing wrong with that! ;D Thanks again!!

Eriq and Noah really shine in their scenes. The last clips is great. Thank you, Anna And that's one of my favourite Noah's performance from season 4: it's from episode 13, Carter's choice.

Thanks Raffy ;D! "Carter's choice" is a really well written episode... I like that they don't try to give the answer whether Carter was wrong or not, but just show the conflict on his mind (and Anna's)... and actually, there's no answer... It seems all black and white in the El platform scene before that last scene: Carter is sure he was right, Anna knows he did something ethically more than questionable, and the writers could have let it at that... But in that last scene it all unfolds and becomes gray. Carter admits he wanted the guy to die, and can't decide if it's really wrong, and Anna admits that she's not so sure that he was wrong. It's really beautiful. And Noah's acting is amazing of course... I hadn't seen that scene in long, and it's better than I remembered .

Indeed. If I didn't like most of the Abby's storylines in the last seasons it's because often they gave us that answer: she's right! I really liked that both of them were able to be honest about a so serious matter and that both of them admited to be unsure about it. I think Anna's character and Carter's character really match.
