Maybe she was to pushy and too opinionated but I thought this had to to with the fact she was really passionate about her country and her work, which I could totally understand, and I think it was something she had in common with Carter who also was passionate in everything he did. Plus she was very sweet with him and, "weird thing", she really "showed" to LIKE him Of course I don't think Kem's character was perfect or that everything about her was good. No way. But probably everything after Abby looked fabulous to me, even if it wasn't perfect at all. Too pushy and too opinionated seemed to me far better than too depressed, too selfcentered, too miserable, too incapable to show love After an entire season of Abby prone to her "little" family tragedies and incapable to really care about someone else beside herself and her relativies, Kem, with her "little" HIV clinique ad her bracelet, was fresh air! Unfortunally Wells and Co. ruined this story too.

That makes sense. Poor Carter, he finally finds a non-tragic partner and TPTB go and turn her into Abby 2.0...

I think I liked Kem right away . I liked exactly what you explained, Raffy, that she looked passionate about what she was doing, and actually showing love for Carter. What I didn't like was how fast she was brought, and how fast their story started and kept going... and I blame that on bad writing, with the excuse that they couldn't afford Thandie Newton all the time . Why make her pregnant so fast? (and once again on ER, on an accident? Gosh... don't any of those doctors know about safe sex?) That made it look like they were together just because he knocked her up... Oh yeah! They really turned her into "Abby 2.0". Why? Really a big mistake if you ask me. As though Carter didn't get enough drama going on in his life... Was that really the only way they could find to have Carter without Kem for one last season? Really what a pity to have turn this so promising character into Abby 2.0... ETA: One of ER classical goof : a kiss that starts in a certain way, and boom, camera angle switches and faces switch too... on the first clip at 1:15 . I remember that goof too at the end of Secrets and Lies too with the kiss between Susan and Carter.

Hey guys! I was watching good-old season 4 ER, and I noticed something funny. Maybe the whole world saw it already, but I still thought I should share it with you! It's from the episode 'Do you see what I see' S04E10. Carter lets his student Henry intubate a patient who's already dead when suddenly the patients brother walks in. Carter pretends they're still trying to save him. As he walks out with the brother he tells Henry: 'come on, push the epi, another round of atropine!' The situation itself is already kinda funny, but that's not even what made me laugh so hard I think I woke up my brother . Noah seems to have forgotten how to pronounce the word 'atropine'. He says something like 'aprotopine'! Guess there was no time to redo that scene, or just nobody noticed . It's at the end of this clip, and maybe you'll have to turn your volume up a bit to hear it properly.

I remember that scene. Quite unethical, but well, more ethical maybe than having Henry breaking the teeth of a person alive and messing up an intubation in a real trauma . I love Henry's face all the time after the brother comes in, following Carter with his eyes with this big question mark on his face!

Wow... what a weird weird interaction between Carter and Banfield . So important stuff said, funny that they let it out... but also it's too 'obvious'. Direct comparison Greene and Carter, the sickness, the addiction, there's something feeling "too much"... But still, I wonder why they should let it out (maybe just because they didn't manage to hide Noah's bump and little scar on his forehead with make-up ) , and it puts another perspective to seeing Carter leaving at the end of T-Minus 6, checking back the ER... with this light smile on his face... And the last scene was important too! showing Carter is really stressed and anxious to see if the kidney is really arriving. And the point of view of Benton bending over him is a nice little reminder of AITF...

I agree. A the same goes on for this one (as for the part about naming the baby Barack!) I think they shouldn't have cut this one.

Oh wow! thank you Raffy... So yeah, the scene with Banfield feels a little forced. I don't know... from the few interactions we had between them, I got the impression she wasn't really crazy about Carter- I mean obviously she thought he was a good doctor and she clearly respected and admired him... but I never got a sense of any friendship, any connection between them. So this in-depth analysis is really too out of the blue for me. Not to mention that it would be very weird if they had left that in, and she still had an issue with his hanging around the ER in the finale- I mean, if you know what it feels like to be addicted to the ER, you should understand why Carter can't stay out, even when he's not actually on duty. (yes, still bitter about the finale) The whole Carter/Banfield relationship is very strange and undefined. I can't really figure out where they were trying to take it, but it's not something that could be explored in three episodes, so they left the whole thing kinda vague ( ) and professional, I guess. This scene would be totally out of place. Although can I just say, the moment when she says "you're an addict... addicted to the adrenaline", and what Noah does with his face there, the way he says "umm... @!$#, what? oh... aha!" with nothing but his eyes? That's genius. To sum up: horrible writing, but boy, can our guy act. And of course you guys already know what I'm going to say about the last scene.. HOW DARE THEY CUT OUT A CARTER/BENTON SCENE?! and this one, though it seems insignificant, is really an important one! If I could choose one thing that bothered me about that episode (the Carter scenes, at least), it's "why was Carter so calm?" Why wasn't he freaking out, why was there no reference to his emotional state, just light banter? And obviously the small signs are there, like the finger tapping in the elevator (except probably only Claire picked up on that)... but this one would make so much sense in the episode. And it's really a beautiful callback to AITF, and I absolutely love the way this was shot (and Carter looks absolutely terrified in the last shot... gave me chills). Everything about this scene works.

Yep! ;D we seem to "all" agree the first scene is really out of place. But yeah, Noah's reaction to "you're an addict..." is really great! And that last scene, indeed, how dare they cut this out!? Lol! But I do hope I wasn't the only one... That little sign is genius too from Noah! But that cut scene was really just what was missing! 30 sec that would have made all the difference... Don't tell me they didn't have time for that! Yeah! and it's probably me interpreting it waaaay too much (but I have the feeling your mind went there too, Anna : , but this terrified look I can only analyze as Carter taking very badly that someone does something in his back with him not seeing it (and this look, with looking in that direction, also has a strong resemblance to him asking "Is that Lucy?" in AITF... )

Well, they had to make sure we got plenty of Sam and her mother, of Gates and Neela, and of all the other fascinating characters that just don't get enough screentime. (Raffy wouldn't go there so I did. ) Can you believe that my mind actually didn't go there? I know, I'm shocked too. Usually I see connections to AITF everywhere, but this one, I have no problem interpreting as general anxiety. Especially considering the wait, the fact that nobody is telling him anything, the fact the kidney is nowhere to be seen, that the staff is less than friendly, and of course the fact he's about to have a serious operation... But of course, the whole element of AITF is very highlighted in this scene. It's almost impossible NOT to get a flashback, and it's clearly what they're aiming for, and in that case, I wouldn't blame Carter for having a déjà vu to that particular night, and being sensitive to things that are done to his back, you know. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand you got me going.

Should I worry about you? or about me? This is really a true crime that they cut this ... but at least we get to see it now. And to top it all, with the "little" Carter we were given in S15, with him looking bad 75% of the time, they managed to cut out a scene where he does look very cute (I don't know what it is.. the stubble... his eyes, well the ensemble!, but I find him stunning here... ) And the fact that we got this now, it means they "fixed" the extras on the DVD I guess (many people were complaining on amazon a bit ago that there was no bonus on the DVD... ). Is it too much to hope for a little more of Noah maybe in the bloopers? The very beginning of the scene really reminds me of a scene in Season 5 where Carter is teaching and lets the students examine him... ( looks stunning there too btw... ) Yeah ... I'll shut up now... ( *pulls the curtain*)
