Wow. Thanks, Raffy, that was really amazing. She has a good voice, not the best I've ever heard technically- but much more importantly, she sings from the heart. It's so emotional and beautiful because you can sense that she feels the words and means them! Really a shocking video, I think the fact that everyone, including us, expected her to be a complete joke made it so touching. People were standing up and cheering at the end, and the look on Simon's face is so precious. I'm really such a cynic, but in the music industry, if you aren't 20 years old and gorgeous, people assume you just don't have it. She's definitely won that audience over, but realistically speaking, I doubt that her talent will be enough to get her through a contest like that- it is based on ratings, after all, and youth and beauty sell. It makes me incredibly sad.

Her voice is better than a voice technically perfect. Her voice is perfectly moving! 12.116.512 millions of people watched this clip in 4 days. She already had six fansites and one facebook group....it they're looking for ratings I think they'll be satisfied (how many young and cute faces we have arleady had??) and if contests like this are based on popular votes too I bet she has a really good chance....anyway she already got her chance because now all the world is talking about her and know her ;D

I quickly became obsessed with this song
Kingdom of Rust (DOVES)
I hear a sound, a sound above my head Distant sound of thunder, moving out on the moor
Blackbirds flew in and to the cooling towers I'll pack my bags Thinking of one of those hours With you, waiting for you
My God, it takes an ocean of trust In the Kingdom of Rust
I long to feel some beauty in my heart As I go searching, right to the start Hmmm The road back to Preston Was jutted out in snow As I went looking for that stolen heart For you, waiting for you
My God, it takes an ocean of trust Takes an effort it does My god, it takes an ocean of trust It's in the Kingdom of Rust
Oooow in the Kingdom of Rust
I long to feel that wince in my heart As I went looking I couldn't stop Now I'm waiting for you
Ooohh ............. I know it takes an ocean of trust In the Kingdom of Rust

Yes Doves are a great group, but it's interestiong that you posted their video of one of the greyer parts of my country --- apologoes to all Lancastrians, but Manchester, Preston, Blackpool - well there are views of the wild Penines - hardly the most beautiful part of England. Well, I know they are celebrating the Kingdom of Rust , and everyone loves their home, but it's interesting that someone from a much sunnier southern country , like you, should be attracted to us northerners

*shrugs* I think the views are gorgeous and I live in the sunniest country you can imagine. That scenery is different to Israel in any way imaginable... everything is so structured, so organized, and all those open fields... Maybe I'm not the best example because anything that isn't the desert is automatically green in my book, but I think that if you're used to sunny and warm and sand and desert, then there's something very powerful about the fields and the gloom and the snow. Besides, I'm pretty sure the point of the video was to get across that gloomy feeling... which it does very well. and it's a really nice song.

Probably because we're always attracted to things and places we don't know...anyway I've to admit that, even if I love my country too, I'm not a "sunny" girl at all...so probably it explains why I'm attracted to greyer atmospheres, sounds and places too and it also explains why I almost hate summer And who says that sunny is better than grey?

Mostly people who live in grey places... while people who live in sunny places actually like the greyness... the neighbour's grass is greener, and all that. ;D

Yeah, I guess you are right. We are always attracted to what is dufferent. It seems exotic, even beautiful, to you.I'm so used to grey skies and cold and wind and smoke, that like most Brits, I go wild for the sun and the , to me, exotic south. Don't get me wrong, the nostalgia in that song gets to me too. Gloominess also has its place and good songs always reach deeper parts, wherever they come from.

Oh! I didn't know Doves and I love that song ;D. Thanks Raffy ! I love to discover new things! I can totally understand the attraction to rainy and green. After a week or so of traveling in the desert parts of Western US, I am soooo missing clouds and green lands. And I was born and raised in a mostly grey skies area, and lived in different mostly sunny areas, and I always end up missing the grey . Though I love warm and sun! but I guess I like it to be special. It's like drinking good wine all the time. You end up missing plain water...

What's up with Last.fm? It used to be for free... Since I'm going through a really long indie phase (AND partially because it's better than doing chemistry assignments) I thought I'd share some music I discovered recently. To make it more interesting, they're Israeli artists- which means that probably no-one outside of Israel will ever hear of them (and to be honest most people in Israel probably never have, either), which is too bad, because they're all pretty good. And yeah, they all sing in English. First we have Geva Alon, who is really awesome- (I love this song! it's a David Bowie cover... there's some talking at the beginning of the video though... stupid talkshow...) (another song I really love!) Moving on to Asaf Avidan, who can best be classified as an Israeli male Jannis Joplin. Has some great songs (and of course, almost zero good videos on youtube). (this one is so d**n catchy and different... it's just really cool.) And last but definitely not least... the truly talented Amit Erez. I call him Elliott Smith reborn. His stuff is mostly really melancholy, but oh so good. If you like that style, of course. Too bad I can't find many good clips on youtube. Honestly, it's worth the download though. And some beautiful songs of his that don't have videos on youtube- Heart AwayClever and StrongTwo SunsNight SideI lied- There's another one... this guy really nobody has ever heard of. He's actually my roommate's friend. But he's good. and I love this song of his: Tal Cohen Shalev - Into MyselfWow. that's a long post. But I hope you like at least some of these... See, something good can come out of this country... [/attempt at being patriotic] Ah, also, this is NOT an Israeli artist but this song is totally worth playing on loop several hundred times. I've been humming it for days... it's absolutely cute and catchy. Mason Jennings - Train Leaving Gray
