Another article, apparently taken from an old interview with Noah, about Noah meeting Steve Jobs: Noah Wyle on playing Steve Jobs(some things I didn't read before in there... that for instance Steve Jobs bought the matching outfit for Noah to be dressed as him at Macworld Expo 99)

I hadn't heard anything about how Steve Jobs and Noah got together. Noah is a wonderful story teller, you can imagine it all unfold. From him sitting at home looking at the phone in his hand, wondering how did he get my number. To everyone round the table reacting to Jobs every word. Why in't he just pick up that napkin He knew it was going to be another ground breaking invention.

Hell of a time to go away from the internet, Anna... Everything seems to happen when I don't have any computer access. Thanks for the link, Claire. I'd never read the story behind the macworld appearance either, it's quite interesting. "Yes Steve, we can do this, Steve!" I'm getting more and more the sense that Noah really did nail the character of Steve Jobs in that movie, reading this. I have to admit I'd been reading through articles about Jobs just to mark if they mention Pirates (especially with the talk about a documentary coming out), and most of them do. I'd say for a little network movie that isn't too bad.

He totally did. I don't know exactly what was the success of the movie when it just aired (I guess pretty good), but it's on the long run that this movie is a true success, and that Noah's performance remained unforgettable till today. And a new article : Noah Wyle: "I would give my eye teeth" to play Jobs again.I'm sensing that Noah (and his publicist) has been smartly reminding everybody that he was a great Steve Jobs... I'm not sure that's enough for him to get the role again. I can imagine a big studio to want a bigger name. And there's the fact that it could be a bit awkward to play the same person in two different movies.

About Noah I don't think it's awkward if he was playing Steve again, especially if everyone agrees that he was a great Steve Jobs But I agree with you, there is much talk of the death of Steve and the future movie ... they want a great name!

I don't think big or small name really matters that much to be honest. Steve Jobs was so big and his cult is so huge right now people would go see a big studio movie starring anyone. The problem is that he already played Steve Jobs so they would want someone new to give it a fresher look.

Also, maybe someone who hadn't portrayed Jobs in a film that showed him in somewhat negative light...? Not that it was any of Noah's fault, but Pirates wasn't exactly an ode to the memory of Jobs, and I'm guessing a future documentary would paint a very different picture. It's hard to imagine Noah doing both, at least for me.

Stupid article based probably on just what observers are thinking: www.nowmagazine.co.uk/celebrity-news/532274/george-clooney-fights-noah-wyle-for-steve-jobs-movie-role/1 I doubt there's any serious discussion yet as to who will play Jobs, but if ever people in charge are taking the pulse on the internet, it's at least nice to see that Noah comes pretty high on the list ;D ETA: I know nobody here needs to be convinced, but this blog noticed Noah's great work on POSV. (It's true Noah has some expressions on his face in POSV that I never saw on him in other things. I must say that I didn't know who Steve Jobs was before watching POSV, so I couldn't really tell about those mannerisms. But having seen a lot of material with Jobs recently, it's easy to see that Noah really found out how to be Jobs.)

I just came here to post the same stupid article When I saw the title I just thought it was one of the usual George jokes...but it was just a stupid article ;D And Noah was a perfect Steve Jobs, so I think if he's not going to play him again everyone else will have an hard time on trying to emulate him

And Noah was a perfect Steve Jobs, so I think if he's not going to play him again everyone else will have an hard time on trying to emulate him Yep... there will be comparisons made. And even if ever it were Noah playing him again, there would still be comparison. I think Noah got even better over the years so I'm 100% sure he would do an even better job on Jobs. I still wonder a bit why this article came up, with the words "reportedly head-to-head". Does this really come from a knowledgeable source? Could this mean they are both really considered for the role and other actors not so much? I doubt it, but I can't help getting a bit excited And IF it were really between Noah and George, well, Noah has two winning points already . First, Steve Jobs himself liked him in the role, and second, he is certainly cheaper than George... ETA: Wow, so many little articles and posts and twitters about this now! Among others: www.cultofmac.com/130673/george-clooney-and-noah-wyle-are-in-a-hollywood-showdown-to-play-steve-jobs-in-upcoming-biopic-report/www.zimbio.com/Noah+Wyle/articles/J6eDtXnbrti/George+Clooney+tipped+play+Apple+boss+SteveI'm beginning to wonder if it's not a PR move by either George and/or Noah's agents... (after all, that could be a way for George to help Noah get the part ) So far I saw one reaction that was "Who the hell is Noah?" and at least 20 others that were "What? Clooney doesn't look anything like Jobs... Should be Noah!"

Yeah, I saw a lot of artlices about that "rumor". I don't know what to think about. But true or false I'm glad Noah's getting pubblicity and I'm glad most of Jobs fellowers think it should be him. You know, in a perfect world Noah is the only reasonable choice. But I suppose they'll go with a younger, more popular (and proably less talented), movie star. Because Hollywood suck

Me too ;D What buzz this story! I cannot be impartial in this story, but Noah has more "quality" to George ... I would'nt have thought of him for the role! In any case, I am curious to know where this story came and how it will end...

Oh yeah, I stopped counting the number of retweets and posts this made now... I hadn't seen that many news feeds about Noah in quite a bit! Some of the many tweets: The question is, will studio care about what Jobs thought? ... ... they should at least care about what 98% of the people twitting about it think ;D Well, depends on what part of the life of Steve Jobs they want to cover. I could easily imagine that the last years are very 'hollywoodian' (and after all, the early life of Jobs was already covered ), so I don't really imagine someone younger than Noah. ETA: 9to5mac.com/2011/11/18/someone-from-er-is-likely-to-play-steve-jobs-in-the-sony-movie/That one has a poll ... and even suggests that Anthony Edwards could also play Jobs
