Hello everyone. My name is Jayne (Bobbybun). I have been an ER fan since it began but trailed off watching it in the last 3 seasons. When it ended last year, I was sad but didn't really give it much thought. However, recently, my cable service put some classic ER episodes up and it reminded me just how good it was and how dreamy Noah Wyle is! I was fortunate to be able to buy the 15 season box set and I've been watching it from season 1. I am upto season 5 now and need a daily ER fix. I found this board and the thing that I really loved about you guys is that you also noticed Carter mentioned a sister in Season 1. It's the kind of detail that I notice and remember but passes other people by. I know ER has finished but with the DVD's and discussions with other like-minded folks, it'll live on for a while longer yet! I'm married with two young children and live in the UK.

Hi Jayne! Welcome to the board. ;D I think it'll continue to "live" for me as long as I can watch an episode and still be excited, emotional or sad about it, or notice a new detail which I hadn't noticed before... and with most ER episodes, I still feel like I could watch them a couple more times! When a show is good, it's almost timeless.

Thanks for the welcome girls. It's lovely to pop back and see replies.
I have definitely checked out Noah's recent work (just wish he'd lose the beard though!)

Welcome Jayne! I'm sure you're gonna love it here! Everyone is so nice, and we're all Noah/ER freaks, what more could you want! Sorry folks, I haven't... But hé, forgive me, I was only 3 years old! I didn't speak English yet nor could I read subtitles... Anyway, welcome here and don't be shy to post messages everywhere. Even old threads, we love to hear your opinion on everything! Love, Eline BTW, I'm not living in the UK (the Netherlands) and I'm not married with two kids... not even one... in fact, not even married! But that would be awfully early at 19 wouldn't it..?

As the former head of the "Anti-Beard Club" (well... it doesn't actually exist, but if it did, I'd definitely be on it) I know what you mean. it definitely changes his entire look and is very non-Carter. Noah with a beard and Noah without the beard look like two different people! But it's kind of grown on me. I don't really mind it with the longer hair, I think the hippie look is cute. Anyway, it's perfect for the new series- end of the world scenario and everything, so I think it might have to stay for a while... Maybe it's best to accept it, I guess. Thank god for reruns and DVDs... Otherwise many of us wouldn't be able to watch the first seasons. I was only old enough to actually understand and appreciate ER by the sixth season, but of course I caught up pretty quickly. I'm also not from the UK- I'm from Israel. And I'm also not married. And I'm not planning on having children at least for another four years- I'm 22 and currently just trying to graduate university.

The bad news is that I think he needs it for the new series. The good new is that I think he needs it for the new series ;D Me too, since ER arrived in Italy

Oh girls, you make me feel old! (and very welcome) I am far too old to harbour teenage crushes on a certain actor but then life is too short to always act appropriately plus my husband knows! To beard or not to beard, that is the question. Just watching season 5 and Carter begins with beard, gets it stuck on patients & glue and has to shave it off (thank goodness). But, I was wondering, Lucy & his then girlfriend only really knew him with beard. It changes his look so much, do you think Lucy walked straight passed him in the corridor for the first couple of days without? Also, did his girlfriend (insurance agent or something) think she'd won the lottery when he appears without! I know I'd be thinking phoaarrr! I'm sure I should be starting this thread elsewhere, sorry for hijacking welcome notes with Carter observations.

It's YOUR welcome thread and you can hijack it with everything you want.....especially when it's Carter/Noah related I agree that the beard changes his look a lot but I think it was more evident when he was younger because it makes him look older and Noah had this boyish and naive look that disappeared when he had the beard. I think that's the reason why I liked season 5 beard...because I liked more mature and manly Noah more than the cuter, younger but IMO a little less charming Noah, Now he doesn't need a beard to look mature but I still like it
