As opposed to every other thread on the board... I noticed that no matter what the original subject is, we always end up discussing Carter in old seasons, lol...

I was wondering if someone could help me out ! Back in season 1 ( or 2) there's this one eppy when Carter ( not even sure if it's him LOL) performs a pelvic exam on a woman who wants to get pregnant. Couple episodes later ( or maybe in the same episode?), pt finds out she's pregnant and bring all her friends who also also want to get pregnant. I guess they all come to ER during a day saying " I need a pelvic exam done by dr Carter" and one of them comment " he's cute" When asked why they only want their pelvic exams done by Carter, one of them comment " _________ (insert woman) said Doctor Carter has magical hands ( or fingers, whatever) I know I am not helping but someone knows which episode is this?

At the top of my head, I would think it's not Carter 'cause I don't remember that . It sounds a tiny bit familiar, but not enough to have been Carter I'd say... (though I won't claim that I know for sure all the situations where Carter was involved... I just discovered that my knowledge of seasons 4 and 5 was quite slim ... which I plan to solve really soon!).

Tis Carter. I can't remember which season (an early one). But a woman does ask for him and when he asks why, its because a friend of hers was trying to get pregnant and had a pelvic exam . . . presto . . . she gets pregnant . . . so she thinks the same might happen for her. I don't know if you see the original patient . . . or any others after that. Has anyone seen the Wiki entry . . . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Carter_(ER)

It was Carter for sure but I can't remember what season or episode was.....I'll try to found out And the wikipedia page is quite good, thanks Jo. Even if i still believe they didn't postponed his episodes to to "make way for other Season 13 storylines" but because they wanted to save those episodes for the end.

Ah, I forgot I wanted to check what episode that was! I will let you know when I found what episode it was... I just re-watched "Welcome back, Carter" on DVD with the comments of Mimi Leder and Laura Innes and another guy over it, and it's funny that several times, for Noah's scenes, they stop their general comments to say something like "Noah is so good in that..."... or just getting silent when he is onscreen and laughing at his funny scenes, just to enjoy his scenes! ;D One comment made was: "Noah has a unique talent of being dumb and smart at the same time" "he's got such a good barometer of truth". And quite amazingly, Laura Innes talks about the extras on set as the "unsung heroes" of the shows! :-o About that episode, I never noticed before that the guy fixing the A/C is to see here and there, on a ladder, and you never see his face, but you can see his butt a lot! yay! :-o... This is a really funny little thing that's there and they never point out to it. I love ER for little things like that ;D. And in the end, after Carter talks with Carol in the ambulance bay (which was back then so different from the one they got after...I never tried to see when the long-term ambulance bay was introduced...), he goes running to an ambulance in the background, while the focus is on Carol, and he slips and really almost falls .

Aww... Well put! It's a sort of getting the timing right and not overdoing it, and I think it makes him good at the comedy scenes, but it also makes him absolutely superb at anything dramatic. I love the little behind-the-scene details that you can pick up from commentaries. It makes watching the episode so much more interesting. I wish I still had my original DVDs with the commentaries... having just the episodes is not nearly enough for an obsessive fan with too much time on her hands who wants to overanalyze every aspect of every episode!

I wish I could make clips out of the DVDs... I didn't find a free way on my Mac yet. The comments by Crichton and Wells about the Pilot are so passionate about how good Noah is that I'd really like to get clips of that! Wells: "The timing that Noah displays in his scenes is really a marvel."Wells reporting what the director of the pilot said: You're not gonna believe who is the most extraordinary surprise in the entire cast (...) Noah Wyle, that guy Noah Wyle is just unbelievable. We'll be able to get a lot out of him.Crichton: "He is such a good actor you don't even realize how good he is."Wow... I had watched the DVD with comments before, but I didn't pick that the comments were so great about Noah's acting! ;D

Oh well. I appreciate the intentions... One day, when I'm rich and, well, rich, I'll get the DVDs. All 15 of them. Ok, maybe only the seasons with Noah in them. That'll give me something to live for, eh? I remember watching some special about ER (or maybe it was about Noah...) and hearing that. Can't argue with that, although they really didn't give him much material to act with in the pilot and it was all mostly comic. But yeah, hearing about how talented Noah is just never gets old! ;D
