I'm a digital compositor (Visual Effects artist). Littlemckay doesn't have much meaning (though I AM admittedly a Stargate Atlantis fan) it's just a childhood nickname I've never been able to shake

Always been a fan of Noah Wyle - ER is what got me into the idea of studying medicine, and then what ultimately lead to me dropping out after 3 of the 5 years of study! I was actually stabbed in the back while I was working (part time postal worker). I was stabbed by a guy in a Ghostface (Scream) mask so some called me Dewey (from Scream), but my med school friends called me Carter. My kidney (thankfully) wasn't badly effected but the injury did cause some issues with the lumbar plexus nerve which resulted in a lot of pain and a heavy limp - this limp returns if I strain the injury site or in cold weather - Vancouver is just PERFECT for that.
It was actually this injury and people referring to me as "Carter" that made me analyse my life plan. I watched a LOT of ER around this time and finally gave in to the realisation that I wasn't really into the medical side of it all, I preferred the TV storytelling side of ER. So I just quit and dropped out!
It was the best decision I ever made - I regretted it for a while, but now I'm past all the major hurdles I faced to get where I am now and every morning when I wake up for work I smile because I LOVE what I do! That sound so corny, but it's true!
I'm originally from Glasgow, Scotland. However, I studied VFX here in Vancouver and I've stayed here with a post grad work permit.
And get this, my first job was with the studio that does the effects for 'Falling Skies'! Not long into starting at that studio I was doing breakdowns for the different shows they do, and one of the breakdowns I got was for a season 1 shot of 'Falling Skies' with Noah running away from a Mech. I was stupidly excited to say the least!
I also composited something for fun during training that unfortunately no one will ever see: I put a Skitter's head in place of Mary Margaret's (Snow White) head in a 'Once Upon A Time' shot. It really was quite funny - the Skitter was wearing her wooly hat and everything!
My contract ended with that studio and I'm starting work at a new studio in just under 3 weeks (movies this time!) I keep hearing about where 'Falling Skies' is shooting here (once a mere 10 mins walk away from my home) but I've always been working! Now I have 3 weeks off - I'm going to hopefully hear about more locations and actually go! I believe they're on episode 8 or 9 right now so I better find them soon!
