I wasn't sure at first if I should put this in the 'TV' or 'Movies' section, seeing as it's a full-length film and it has been released on DVD, but it was performed live on TV. Oh well, i'll leave it to the powers that be. I finally had the opportunity to see Fail Safe two nights ago. Not only did Noah deliver yet another wonderful performance, but the entire ensemble cast astounded me with their skill and focus. While at first Buck may appear to be a supporting character, it becomes quickly apparent that he is one of the leads, being smack-dab in the middle of this disaster. I don't know a word of Russian but thought he did a great job with timing the translation. It felt authentic. This film completely drew me in, and it's been a while since that has happened. So of course I was devastated by the film's conclusion. I'd been leaning further and further in my seat as the film progressed and sat in silence for a few minutes after it ended. Bravo!

I agree. Definitely a film (TV-film, whatever the technical term is) that deserved more attention than it got. It was very shocking and quite influential for me, and it's a little sad that it 'fell through the cracks'. It carries a strong message, which may not be a big attraction, but is important for us as human beings, and things like this should not be overlooked while tired comedies about drunk, young, clueless people score millions of dollars in the box offices. And it really IS well done, both in terms of the acting (so powerful) and in getting the point across.
And of course... Noah in those glasses... adorable.

Aaaah Buck. I love Buck Indeed, it seems like a supporting role only at first, but a lot is actually seen through his eyes when things become dramatic. First reaction to the president's decision: close-up on Noah. Same for THe big moment. It's almost all flawless for live TV. Nothing you would notice anyway if you're not searching for little hints that it was live. And the end is just about Buck leaving the room, which I found was a very efficient way to end this movie, not because of Noah especially, but because it brings so many questions... What do they do after that? Yeah, it's over, they have to leave this room, but what comes next? Life as we know it is over. And yet it's still all normal in this room. Seeing Buck leaving the room this way is kinda a link between reality and the movie. It's as if leaving the room means it's the end of the nightmare, it was just a movie, it's not reality, but what if it had been real? And if you look closely, Noah actually seems to have a little hard time closing his case. If he hadn't managed quickly, that could actually have completely screwed this ending I wonder if there was a tiny bit of a panic moment for Noah with that bag. "Now it's as good as over... I didn't forget any line, I was sync all the time with the translation, poured the water all okay, now I just have to close this case and leave... close this case... dammit.. close the f**king thing! what the hell?? " He almost pushes the water off the table at a point... It's quick, but I don't think all that was on purpose
