So has someone seen the movie by now? Well, I had a terrible night last week when I couldn't fall asleep at all (because my mind was still stuck at work. ) Anyway... So I decided to finally check out QOTL - as it has been sitting on the shelve for months waiting for me to sit down and watch it. To tell you the truth I haven't really watched the entire movie. Mostly I kinda skipped to Noah's scenes. (I guess you know what I mean.) But I gotta say as much as this really looks like an independant production and as a movie about the "Inside Hollywood"- cliches, I really like it. Okay okay, I'm more focused on the lovestory between Aaron and Maggie ;D ... but even though ... What did you guys think of the movie?

Thanks for the little review, Claudia! ;D I still didn't get the movie... I guess it's quite hopeless to wait that it's to get online, so I'll have to check ebay or amazon at a point Now you made me curious! ;D Are there a lot of scenes with Noah?

You're welcome! Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you curious. The movie is quite nice to watch though. - Personally I think the story could have been told in one and a half hour, I wouldn't have needed two hours. And the "reality TV"-like shooting isn't my cup of tee. BUT I can tell you that Aaron's and Maggie's scenes are the most "intensiv" ones. - Okay, I might not be that objectiv to judge, but for me Noah's scenes really make the movie worth watching. My guess is his character makes it so interesting. You know, he plays the black sheep of a family that has got lots of Hollywood fame and success, where he's the not so successful writer in the family. - I know this sounds charming already. EDIT: Ohh, Noah's got quite a few scenes in the movie, Claire. I haven't really counted them yet, but I'd say around ten at least. I uploaded those two scenes with Noah from the cut scenes of QOTL for you guys: ;D

Thank you very much for the clip, Claudia! It's a quite unusual way to film a scene, with following the actors from far and not moving the camera. It's so zoomed in the end that the picture is a bit shaky. I can totally see why some people don't like Henry Jaglom at all, while some others are totally fan... I've read somewhere that Jaglom doesn't really direct the actors but kinda lets them improvise, letting the camera roll. It's true, from the few clips I saw of QOTL that it looks like very natural conversations, not usual scripted things. And the funny thing is that it makes me a bit uncomfortable. It's a bit like watching Noah having a personal conversation... I'll still want to see the movie of course! And even if I feel like I won't be a fan of Jaglom's style, it'll be interesting to see something a bit unusual.

I ordered the DVD from Amazon.co.uk two weeks ago and finally received it yesterday. There one hilarious scene that I really love. It's the scene we've seen in the trailer where Aaron collapses in the kitchen. Maggie finds Aaron passed out at his desk under the influence of Maggie's pills and Jameson whisky. She drags him through the apartment making sure that he stays awake. Both Tanna and Noah are obviously improvising here and there's a brilliant chemistry between them.

Finally got the dvd from amazon ;D. I found the movie to be barely watchable... I couldn't stand the pretentious hollywood type of people, ugly facelifts, crazy producers, who talk of Norma Shearer or Ernst Lubitsch as if they had anything to do with them, with the weird motion of camera and the very weird editing, keeping on switching between scenes. It looks very amateurish. I know Jaglom is an independent and doesn't have a lot of money, but still, looks very cheap. Filming a scene from across a high traffic street and having cars passing by hiding the actors every 5 sec is not a good choice imo . It got a bit better towards the end though (maybe thanks to more Noah ) I must admit I can't stand Tanna Frederick. She's not ugly, but she keeps on making ugly faces, keeping her mouth wide open (I can't stand to be able to see people's gum in their mouth) when listening to people, over-reacting to all... I couldn't bear the chewing-spitting scene, made me actually almost hurl and I had to fast-forward it. But, it's worth to have it just for Noah!! ;D There was more of him than I expected! I don't know if I'm highly not objective, but he seemed to me to be flying above them all, as a character (Aaron is the only character with a bit of a backbone and depth) and as an actor. I listened a tiny bit to the comments by him, Jaglom and Frederick in the bonus (I'm not yet in the mood to re-watch the full movie... ), and they seem to say that most of what Noah did was improvised, and some scenes are just a first take, which makes it quite fascinating. And the Aaron-under-pills-and-Jameson scene is indeed hilarious! I love that white shirt and gray v-neck combination Also loved the look on Noah's face when Aaron's father is kissing him on the head. It's sort of interesting that Aaron remains quite mysterious. Exactly why is he crying during the xmas songs? What does he mean when saying it's 'what he does' when he has to 'clean up' after his brother screws things up very badly? I'm guessing that Noah brings a bit more mystery to the character than Jaglom intended, and in the end his storyline feels not complete enough maybe

Good review Claire. I couldn't have done it better. I had the same feeling about these awful Hollywood people after I watched it for the first time. Aaron's/Noah's scenes are definitely the best and I think Noah is revealing bits and pieces of his own personal feelings. He is wearing his own clothes. If you watch closely, you can recognize this cardigan in a very short scene in which Aaron is working on "Queen Of The Lot". (is Noah using his own Dell laptop here?) And, seeing him in his own bathrobe at the breakfast table makes me melt. The location of Aaron's office room, kitchen and bathroom and Maggie's own apartment are the same, I think. The tiles in Maggie's apartment in the beginning of the film look very much the same as the ones in the bathroom. Maggie has no difficulty in finding her way around Aaron's apartment. As if she's walking in her own house. Were these scenes filmed in Tanna's own apartment? I had a look at the opening scene again. The way Maggie hangs her dresses from the window blinds and the photo frames on the bookshelves give a very personal touch to her bedroom, so are we are watching Tanna in her OWN bedroom here? And this bedroom is the same one that is used after the kitchen/bathroom scene when Aaron wakes up in his own bed with Maggie lying next to him. Watch the lamp, the bottle, the eye mask and other things on the bedside table in both scenes. Maggie and Aaron's bedrooms are the same I don't like the fast cuts between scenes and they could have added an English subtitles feature as some dialogues are difficult to hear.

Aaron's/Noah's scenes are definitely the best and I think Noah is revealing bits and pieces of his own personal feelings. Yeah, it's sometimes hard to say if he's acting or just being himself... Maybe it's the improvisation that makes him look so natural and so "himself". I find it both fascinating and a bit uncomfortable to watch for some reasons. I noticed that too! Good catch on that cardigan. I also spotted a suit that he was wearing at a talk show I think, and at a premiere. The fast cuts really make it unpleasant to watch. I don't know if it's jaglom's style (I wouldn't care about watching another movie from him... ), but I wouldn't call it good editing. And yes, the sound is bad too! Sometimes the people speaking are not 'focused' on in the sound, the background sound is louder than them... I remember when the movie was first out, some people commenting that it's such a fantastic movie, and Tanna deserves an award and she's the best actress ever. Those comments on different sites were all coming from the same names, so I'm assuming all those positive comments were coming from people either knowing her personally, or very avid fans. The comments on Amazon.com don't look objective either. It gets a 4.3/5 stars (well, only 3 reviews... that might explain it).

It's indeed not a good movie but at least Noah's acting is good. And the main reason for me to purchase this movie is that Noah plays a lead character. I've searched every corner of the internet if I could find more footage. There is a Polish website that offers the first 10 minutes of the film (a tv-broadcast rip) with a dreadful Polish voice-over. The money is well spent and I am now about to order 'The Californians' for the same reason. I also bought 'Guinevere' for only 5 Euros recently. Young Noah's part is not as big as I thought, but he is in good shape. His acting is really good, and besides that I love Medieval history. I'm much into genealogy research for more than three years now and I found out that several of my forefathers where knights in the 14th and 15th century. I never thought that I would take an interest in the Middle Ages. Buying second hand history books has become a passion of me and I would love to work in a library
